Scholarships for Study Abroad
There are some great scholarships available for students studying abroad. You just have to know where to look. Therefore, Tutku has provided a list below of some of those scholarships available for students studying abroad, even for short-term periods.
Over 3,600 scholarships of up to $5,000 each are awarded each year through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program. Administered by the U.S. State Department, these scholarships are available for U.S. citizens who are undergraduates. You must already receive Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university. Once received, these funds can be used for study and intern abroad programs worldwide.
Similarly, the U.S. Department of State also offers the Gilman-McCain Scholarship. These scholarships are also worth up to $5,000. However, they are only available for undergraduate child dependents of active duty service members. In other words, those who receive any type of Title IV federal financial aid can qualify. You can use these scholarships for study abroad or internships on credit-bearing programs.
US students enrolled at accredited US universities are eligible for these $1000 scholarships to study abroad. To apply you’ll need to write a 600-800 word essay about what inspires you to travel and how studying abroad will benefit you.
